HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The construction of the Kabul Folad Steel Mills second phase has been started in Herat City, the capital of western Herat province.
The construction work of this phase, inaugurated by the acting Commerce and Industry Minister Nooruddin Azizi has attracted $18 million investment.
Addressing the opening ceremony Azizi said currently best investment opportunities have been provided in the country and businessmen could invest in the country instead of foreign countries.
He said the government was committed to solving the problems of the industrialists at the country level and with the completion of the projects under hand, the problem of lack of electricity in the industrial town of Herat will be completely solved.
Governor Mawlana Noor Ahmad Islam Jar said the local administration did not allow anyone to commit corruption, threaten businessmen and investors and extort money from them, and the abusers will be dealt with seriously and legally.
Steel Mills officials said after the completion of the construction of the second phase of this factory, 700 tonnes of steel would be produced daily and 800 people would be employed.
Attaullah Wardak, the owner of the factory, said the second phase of the steel mill was being built at the cost of $18 million afs.
