MAZAR-I-SHARIF (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA) says 160 individuals graduated from vocational trainings in northern Balkh province.
Mohammad Zahir Ahmadzai, an official at the ministry, inaugurated a vocational training centre his trip to the province in Mazar-i-Sharif, the provincial capital.
He said about 52 vocational centres were functioning across the country and the process would be extended to district level as well.
He added as many as 20,000 youth were graduated from these centres every year.
Meanwhile, Balkh’s Labour and Social Affairs Director Abdul Rahman Qant said skills such as tailoring, mobile repair, plumbing, English language and computer were being taught in this centre.
He said: “We provided 160 youth with vocational trainings in cooperation with MoLSA. God willing, they would find jobs for themselves after graduating from this centre.”
On the other hand, the youth at the centre also considered this programme effective in preventing the youth from going abroad and reducing unemployment rate in the country.
Murtaza, a student, told Pajhwok: "It is a pleasure that we are learning a profession here. When this program is completed, we can open a shop for ourselves and find a halal livelihood for our family."
Some other youth were also happy over this vocational training centre and urged concerned officials to provide more people with such programmes.
Thousands of graduates of universities and educational centres either remain unemployed or migrate to foreign countries every year due to lack of job opportunities in the country.
