OCHA needs $603m for winter emergency aid in Afghanistan

KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) says $603.5 million is needed for the upcoming winter emergency aid packages and shelter in Afghanistan.

The OCHA office said in a statement, according to the predictions, the upcoming winter will be colder than usual in this country.

OCHA said it needed the money for construction of shelters and provision of warm clothes to deserving people in Afghanistan, something that should be done before the end of the last quarter of 2024.

It said $104 million will be spent on food packages and other aid in the first quarter of 2025.
