KABUL (Pajhwok): As part of economic-centered policy the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) prioritized durable connectivity with its neighbours, an official said on Thursday.
Afghanistan’s Ambassador to China Mawlavi Bilal Karimi said this during the inauguration ceremony of a cargo train between Afghanistan and China.
Afghanistan’s Embassy in Beijing on its Twitter handle wrote that this train would transport 50 containers loaded with electronic equipment, fabric and other goods, which would reach Haritan port from Nantong city in 20 days.
Ambassador Bilal Karimi told the gathering: “The fact that we got together in the opening ceremony of the train from Nantong city is a very important and positive step.”
He said: “As we value the Nantong city of China as an economic gateway to the outside world by train, we also hope that the Wakhan Corridor can connect China with Afghanistan in a very easy and cheap way. One day we will hold the same ceremony for the opening of the Wakhan Corridor.

He said this economic connection by means of train will strengthen the integration through One Belt and One Road initiative and the bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries.
Ambassador Karimi said with the opening of this railway, Afghan businessmen will be able to export their goods to Chinese markets and import Chinese products to Afghanistan at an easy and cheap price.
