PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Deputy Minister for Labour and Social Affairs Maulvi Mohammad Zahid Ahmadzai says providing employment opportunities to the youth is the caretaker government’s top priority.
He said this at a meeting titled “Creating job opportunities for youth” in central Logar province today (Monday).
Ahmadzai said creating job opportunities for the youth was a top priority of the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA).
He said his ministry had provided rehabilitation and vocational training opportunities for 3,000 drug addicts during last one year.
He said about 52 vocational centres were functioning across the country and the process would be extended to district level as well. He added as many as 20,000 youth annually graduated from these centres.
The deputy minister also announced as many as 6,000 children without guardians were provided with education in orphanages.
Meanwhile, Logar governor Maulvi Zia-ul-Rahman Madni recalled the residents of the province had made significant sacrifices in the past wars and urged the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) to provide them with employment opportunities.
On the other hand, Logar Labour and Social Affairs Director Maulvi Jan Mohammad Tolha also called unemployment a big challenge for youth and added efforts were underway to address this problem.
