Afghanistan struggling in 2nd Test against Zimbabwe

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan lost three quick wickets in their second for 46, still trailing Zimbabwe by 40 runs on the second day of the second Test at Queens Sports Club.

A total of 283 runs were scored and 13 wickets fell on a day full of fluctuating momentum, leaving the match finely poised, reports ESPN.

Resuming at 6 for none after dismissing Afghanistan for 157 on a rain-affected first day, Zimbabwe found themselves in trouble due to a top-order collapse.

However, half-centuries from Craig Ervine (75) and Sikandar Raza (61), and a gutsy knock of 49 from an injured Sean Williams. helped the hosts take an 86-run lead -- a crucial advantage considering the challenging nature of the pitch.

Zimbabwe then made early breakthroughs in Afghanistan's second innings, with Blessing Muzarabani claiming two wickets, ending the day with a 40-run lead.

Afghanistan now face the challenge of rebuilding with only seven wickets in hand, aiming to set up a competitive target.
