Four decades old feud between Kunduz families finally ends

KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): A 40-year-old feud between two families in Aliabad district in northern Kunduz province has finally come to an end, thanks to mediation of tribal elders and local officials.

Originated 40 years ago over a land dispute, the enmity claimed the life of a person, said Agha Nasari, a tribal elder who played crucial role in resolving the enmity.

He added: “This forty-year-old hostility between the two families in Aliabad district was related to Naser tribe. It arose over land disputes. Thanks to efforts of tribal elders, religious scholars, and the support of the Islamic Emirate, the issue has been resolved. Both parties have pledged to end hostilities and live peacefully.”

Both families forgave each other and pledged to live in atmosphere of brotherhood.

Osama, one of the parties involved in the conflict, stated, "Peace brings goodness and success. We urge others embroiled in disputes and hostilities to set aside their conflicts and reconcile."

Ubaidullah, a relative of the deceased, remarked, "Life in enmity is extremely difficult; it feels like living in a cage. We feared them, and they feared us. Our message to the people is to avoid such actions because they bring no positive outcomes."

As many as 200 minor and major enmities have been resolved through mediation of tribal elders, religious scholars and officials since the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) takeover.
