KABUL (Pajhwok): The UK Foreign Office has announced that it will provide £315 million in assistance to Afghanistan over the next three years to support the country’s people.

Hamish Falconer, the UK’s Deputy Foreign Secretary, said in a statement on Thursday that the funding would be allocated during the 2026–2029 period through international organisations, with a focus on addressing critical humanitarian and development needs.

He said Britain would provide £105 million annually to support Afghans, adding that Afghanistan would remain one of the UK’s largest Official Development Assistance (ODA) programmes during this period.

“Over the next three years (2026 to 2029), the UK will provide £105 million annually to support the people of Afghanistan.

This reflects both the scale of need in Afghanistan and our continued commitment,” Falconer said.

He added that the aid package would focus on delivering health and nutrition services, supporting education, protecting vulnerable groups, strengthening livelihoods, and improving resilience to climate change.
