KP govt delegation to visit Kabul for talks

PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur says he will dispatch a delegation to Afghanistan within two weeks for talks on bilateral issues.

He recalled: “The federal government promised negotiations with Afghanistan on bilateral issues, but there’s no success yet.”

Gandapur told journalists in Dera Ismail the provincial government had decided to negotiate with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.

To set the ball rolling, the chief minister announced: “A delegation of our KP government will meet Afghan officials within two weeks.”

In the next phase, tribal elders from KP would engage with the Afghan government, he said, hoping Kabul would cooperate with the provincial teams.

Irritants with Afghanistan could be resolved through dialogue, the chief minister believed, insisting that terrorism could not be banished through military operations.

Gandapur went on to accuse the federal government of implicating political opponents, especially PTI leaders and workers, in trumped-up cases.
