GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Construction of five amusement parks estimated to cost 16 million afghanis has been launched in the provincial capital of southern Ghazni province.
Ghazni Mayor Maulvi Mohammad Nabi Hamza told a ceremony in this regard on Sunday that two of the five parks were relatively large.
He said that one large park was being built on a 1.5 acre of land near the Farukhi Square in the city’s first district and the other on a two-acre plot.
Hamza added that the three small parks will also be built on 2,700 square meters of land near the city’s residential areas.
According to him, the parks are estimated to cost 16 million afghanis and will be funded from the municipality’s budget.
He said that the parks will have green areas, paved paths, water fountains, canals, swimming pools and other necessary facilities.
According to him, these parks would take three months to be completed and about 70 people would find work opportunities during their execution.
Meanwhile, residents of Ghazni city expressed happiness over the construction of these parks, which they said would not only change the appearance of the city, but would also provide a suitable environment for people to have fun.
Aziz Ahmad, a resident of the city, told Pajhwok: “Besides adding beautify to the city, the parks will provide a good place for people to have fun.”
It should be noted that currently only one park named ‘Hakim Sanayee’ exists in Ghazni city.
