KABUL (Pajhwok): About 120 tribal feuds and family clashes have been resolved in northern Jawzjan province in the past nine months through mediation efforts by officials, religious scholars and local elders.
Mawlawi Ghulam Nabi Samim, head of Borders, Tribes and Ethnic Affairs, told Pajhwok Afghan News that a family dispute spanning five years between two families was resolved yesterday evening through mediation by the department, religious scholars, and tribal elders via a local jirga, with both sides reconciling.
He said that the dispute, which had existed for five years between the family of Syed Hashim, a resident of Pump Khana village, and Mawlawi Mohammad Tahir, a resident of Sayad district in Sar-e-Pul province, was settled through the mediation of local officials, scholars, and tribal elders.
The head of the department emphasized that it was never too late to end disputes and hostilities, noting that nothing was as sweet and valuable as peace and reconciliation.
According to him, from the beginning of the current year until the end of the month, 120 cases of tribal disputes and enmities were resolved through the mediation of officials and tribal jirgas.
