KABUL (Pajhwok): According to reports, at least 24 people have been killed and more than 50 others injured in an explosion near a railway line in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan.
The explosion took place today in Quetta city.
Reports indicate that the blast derailed a freight train, and gunfire was also heard after the incident.
Dawn newspaper reported that the explosion occurred this morning near the Chaman Phatak area and targeted a shuttle train. The train was travelling from the Quetta Cantonment area toward the railway station.
The source added that at least 14 people were killed in the incident and several others were injured.
Local officials said that after the explosion, an emergency was declared in Quetta hospitals, and all doctors and health workers were called in to treat the injured.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the incident, saying it had caused the deaths of innocent people and injured many others.
