KABUL (Pajhwok): A fire in Kabul’s Mandawi market has caused financial losses estimated at eight million afghanis, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Tuesday.
In a statement, the ministry said the fire broke out on Monday evening at Zardad Market in Mandawi due to an electrical short circuit.
It said the incident caused losses of nearly eight million afghanis. However, thanks to the timely efforts of firefighters, property worth around 480 million afghanis, including shops and warehouses in the market, was saved from destruction.
The ministry urged residents to observe safety measures and precautionary procedures in their homes, shops, warehouses and markets and to cooperate with relevant authorities.
It said adherence to safety regulations and public cooperation played an important role in preventing incidents and maintaining public safety.
