KABUL (Pajhwok): At least seven people were killed and more than 30 others injured in an explosion at a mosque near police offices in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, during Friday prayers.

The Associated Press reported that the blast occurred while worshippers were attending Friday prayers.

Police and rescue officials said most of those injured were worshippers who were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The powerful explosion caused the mosque’s roof to collapse and damaged nearby shops and houses, according to the report.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the blast, and authorities have not released further details about the incident.

The explosion came a day after a roadside mine blast in Hangu, also in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killed six Pakistani soldiers.
