Afghan athlete wins 2 bouts at Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan athlete Mohammad Sarwar Hussaini defeated opponents from Vietnam and Cambodia at the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship, drew with an Uzbek rival and lost to a Kyrgyz competitor.

The General Directorate of Olympic, Physical Education and Sports said in a statement on Saturday that Hussaini secured victories over athletes from Vietnam and Cambodia in the 69kg category at the championship hosted by Kazakhstan.

The statement added that Hussaini drew with an Uzbek opponent and was defeated by a Kyrgyz rival during the competition.

It said another Afghan athlete, Mustafa Wakeeli, will compete in the 69kg category on Sunday.

According to the directorate, the Jiu-Jitsu championship is being held in Kazakhstan with the participation of athletes from 49 countries, including two competitors from Afghanistan.
