KABUL (Pajhwok): US President Donald Trump has warned that any country providing Iran with “any kind of economic lifeline” will face economic consequences from the United States.
“ANY country that allows its financial institutions, businesses, airports, or government entities to provide any type of lifeline to Iran will itself face TREMENDOUS Economic Consequences,” Trump wrote in a message posted on social media on Wednesday evening.
Trump did not specify what action the United States would take against such countries, nor did he name any country in particular, Reuters reported.
The remarks come as the war involving the United States, Israel and Iran has continued for nearly six months and spread to Gulf countries.
Thousands of people have been killed in the conflict, according to Reuters, while global markets have been heavily affected by Iran’s ability to disrupt shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
