Afghan post delegation travels to Thailand for APPU congress

KABUL (Pajhwok): A three-member delegation of Afghan Post has travelled to Thailand to attend the 14th Congress of the Asian-Pacific Postal Union (APPU) and a general meeting of chief executive officers, the General Directorate of State-Owned Corporations said.

In a statement posted on X late Saturday, the directorate said the delegation, led by Afghan Post CEO Mawlavi Rahmatullah Makki, had departed for Thailand.

The congress and meeting will be held in Bangkok, with representatives of postal administrations from 32 APPU member countries, as well as officials from the Universal Postal Union (UPU), World Customs Organization (WCO), International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and other relevant institutions, expected to attend.

The meetings will focus on the development and standardisation of postal services, strengthening international cooperation, sharing professional experience, coordinating postal and customs affairs, and improving service quality.

The Afghan delegation will share Afghanistan’s experience and views on the postal sector and discuss ways to expand cooperation, strengthen international postal relations and exchange professional expertise with representatives of postal administrations from other countries.
