KABUL (Pajhwok): Iran has offered to cooperate with Afghanistan’s state-owned companies in oil, electricity, fertiliser, improved seeds and poultry, while Kabul plans talks in Iran on trade expansion.
The General Directorate of State-Owned Companies said the director-general, Mawlavi Ahmad Jan Bilal, made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian Ambassador Alireza Bikdeli in Kabul.
The two sides discussed expanding economic, trade and development cooperation, as well as joint investment in oil, electricity, fertiliser production and agriculture.
According to a statement from the directorate, Bilal stressed the importance of strengthening relations among Islamic countries in the region and described cooperation with Iran in sectors related to state-owned companies as important.
Bikdeli stressed the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation and said Iran was interested in working with Afghanistan’s state-owned companies in oil, electricity, fertiliser production, improved seeds, poultry farming and other related sectors.
The statement said the two sides also discussed ways to expand economic, trade and development ties between Afghanistan and Iran.
It added that Bilal would travel to Iran in the near future to finalise petroleum-product contracts, discuss trade expansion and meet Iranian officials on various issues.
