KANDAHAR CITY (Pajhwok): At least four US soldiers suffered injuries as the troops convoy was struck by a car-bombing on Monday in the Dand district of southern Kandahar province, an official said.
Police spokesman Zia Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News the car-bombing on foreign forces procession happened in the Ghulaman area at around 3:30pm.
He feared casualties in the attack but lacked exact information about dead and injured personnel.
Governor spokesman Qudratullah Khoshbakht confirmed the incident and said they had made some calls to get information about casualties but were unsuccessful.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. The group’s spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi said they carried out the attack and inflicted casualties on several foreign forces.
Meanwhile, a statment from the NATO Resolute Support mission, confirmed a vehicle-born improvised explosive device was detonated at approximately 2 p.m. today. "There were a total of four U.S. service members injured and all are in stable condition in U.S. medical treatment facilities."
The statment ruled out fatalities to Coalition Forces, saying more information might be released as appropriate.
