KABUL (Pajhwok): With the death of a TV cameraman on Friday, the toll from the Kabul suicide bombing has increased to 19.
Rah-e-Farda TV cameraman Husain Nazari sustained serious wounds in the attack outside a restaurant on Thursday afternoon.
He was evacuated to the Emergency Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries early Friday morning. The dead included eight policemen and 11 civilians.
The bomber detonated his improvised explosive device near a gathering of the Jamiat party at a time when participants were exiting the conference hall.
Daesh claimed responsibility for the deadly attack, which was vehemently denounced by the UN mission.
“This attack in Kabul today is totally unacceptable; it is an act of terror and a serious violation of humanitarian law,” said Yamamoto Tadamichi Yamamoto, the UN secretary-general’s special representative.
“At a time when Afghanistan is facing so many challenges, and with so many Afghans yearning for peace, such attacks simply cannot be justified,” the UNAMA head said.
