KABUL, the US, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have agreed on a joint fight against terrorism and choking their financial sources, an official said on Sunday.
Qader Shan, the National Security Council (NSC) spokesman and head of the strategic affairs division, told Pajhwok Afghan News national security advisors from the four countries met in Washington on Saturday.
NSA Hanif Atmar represented Afghanistan at the meeting, which conferred on terrorism, the Afghan peace process and economic cooperation in different areas.The participants supported the Afghan peace process and stressed the need for practical efforts in this regard.
The ongoing fight against terrorism was also discussed, as the meeting underlined the joint steps to eradicate the scourge from Afghanistan. The NSAs pledged taking action to eliminate terrorists’ financial sources.
They also agreed on Afghanistan’s economic development, deciding the UAE would host a multinational conference on economic cooperation and investment in Afghanistan.
Qader Shan said the meeting also assigning joint responsibilities and evolving a proper implementation mechanism. Afghanistan, the US, the UAE and Saudi Arabia would form a technical team for implementation of the decisions.
