SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): A senior Daesh leader has been killed in a clash with Taliban in the Darzab district of northwestern Faryab province, an official said on Monday.
Mohammad Reza Ghafoori, the governor’s spokesman, said the Taliban attacked Daesh hideouts in Mughal and Sardara villages before dawn.
He said Haji Murad deputy head of Daesh in Jawzjan, was killed as he planned operations against the government.
Clashes between the insurgent groups continued till morning, he added. The Taliban also suffered heavy casualties but exact figures are yet to be known.
Samaruddin, a resident of the area, said Daesh had lately intensified its activities in the area and had captured many villages from Taliban.
