HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Afghan forces killed one colleague and injured another after the duo fired a rocket at foreign forces who escaped unhurt in western Herat province on Wednesday, an official said.
Noorullah Qaderi, the 207th Zafar Military Corps spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the foreign forces wanted to visit the 5th border security forces battalion in Islam Qala border town when two Afghan security personnel fired at a rocket at them.
The foreign forces escaped unhurt in the attack, but what prompted the incident could not be ascertained as yet, the military official said. One security personnel involved in the attack was killed and another injured by their comrades.
NATO Resolute Support mission confirmed the incident and no coalition member had been injured. “Today, an insurgent acting as a member of the Afghan security forces fired on coalition members, the coalition members returned fire and killed the attacker,” a short statement from the mission said.
