KUNDUZ CITY (Pajhwok): Heavy fighting between the Taliban and security forces was underway in the Khanabad district of northern Kunduz province which resulted in the closure of Kunduz-Takhar highway, an official said on Friday.

District Chief Hayatullah Ameri said the Taliban launched assault on the Khanabad district from different sides at around 4:00 am.

Security forces strongly resisted the Taliban attacks and due to heavy fighting the Kunduz-Takhar highway had been closed.
