MAIMANA (Pajhwok): Three National Directorate of Security (NDS-clad insurgent in Dawlatabad district of northwestern Faryab province, a source said on Tuesday.
Abdul Ahad Baig, a member of the Provincial Council who hails from Dawlatabad district, said the three NDS personnel were sitting in a shop when a burqa clad Taliban insurgent spayed them with bullets.
Jamal, a resident of the locality, said the shopkeeper and two more civilians were also injured in the incident.
Separately, heavy fighting erupted between security forces and Taliban gunments about 26 kilometres north of Maimana, the provincial capital, in the afternoon.
A well-placed source told Pajhwok Afghan News one security personnel was injured in the firefight.
Four members of a family were also wounded when a mortar shell landed on their home in the area.
