Despite warnings about the dangers of plastic bags and the ban on their import, the use of these bags continues widely in markets, and experts have once again stressed the need for public awareness and full enforcement of the ban on such bags.

The use of plastic bags is equally harmful for human health, agriculture and environment. Afghanistan needs to take its cue from the  countries that have restricted the use of these bags.

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) on Tuesday banned the import of any kind of plastic bags and asked the business community to show compliance to the order.
