KALAT (PAN and children, were killed in a mine blast in the Shamalzo district of the southern province of Zabul Saturday morning.
The explosion occurred in the Zanzeer area of the border district, completely destroying a car full of refugees returning from Pakistan to the Nawa district of Ghazni province, Mohammad Jan Rasolyar, deputy governor of Zabul, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Rasolyar added that four women and two children were among the 13 people killed.
He blamed militants for the explosion and said police were investigating the incident. No group has yet claimed responsibility.
Two days ago in Nimroz an similar explosion killed 13 and injured 33, all civilians, on a bus.
