SAR-I-PUL (PAN): A district police chief and a passer-by were wounded in a roadside bombing in northern Sar-i-Pul province on Friday, an official said.
Sancharak district police head, Abdul Hakim, was injured in the blast on the way from his residence to the district centre to attend a gathering there.
The roadside bomb hit the Ranger pick-up carrying Hakim in the Khwaja Surkh area at 10.30am, the provincial police chief told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Brig. Gen. Mohammad Yaqub Zabuli blamed the Taliban for the bomb attack, though there was no immediate claim of responsibility.
He said police transferred the injured police official to a hospital in the provincial capital, where he is said to be in stable condition.
