LASHKARGAH (PAN): Three intelligence operatives, a provincial council member and two policemen were killed in separate bomb attacks in southern Helmand province on Wednesday, an official said.
A roadside explosion killed the Nad Ali district intelligence chief, Wali Mohammad, along with two colleagues and a provincial council member in the Loya Bagh area of the district.
The vehicle they were travelling in struck the roadside bomb in the restive area, said Col. Muhammad Ismail, deputy coordination head at the provincial police headquarters.
Separately, two policemen were killed and as many injured in a suicide attack in the Kajaki district of the province. Ismail said the policemen were on a routine patrol in the district’s main bazaar, where a suicide attacker on a motorbike exploded himself among them.
The Taliban claimed responsibility for the roadside bombing, with their spokesman Qari Yousaf Ahmadi saying the Nad Ali intelligence chief was among six people killed in the assault.
