KABUL): Nearly 21 militants were killed and 19 others wounded during operations over the past 24 hours across the country, said the Ministry of Interior (MoI).
The operations were launched by Afghan and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF claimed conducting several anti-government operations in 22 provinces, including the areas mentioned by the ministry.
Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman told Pajhwok Afghan News in an email that they targeted Afghan and foreign soldiers in these areas – killing, injuring few of them, and destroyed their tanks and vehicles.
Taliban also claimed they only lost six of their fighters.
Elsewhere, a knowledgeable government source said three policemen were killed and another injured during an attack carried out by Taliban in northern Jawzjan province.
The incident took place late on Sunday night in the Khwaja Shakar area of the outskirts of Darzab district, Brig. Gen. Abdul Aziz Ghairat, the provincial police chief said.
He said three local policemen were killed and one of their comrades was injured in the clash, but did not divulge more details over the incident.
