CHARIKAR): Intelligence agents detected and confiscated an explosives-laden van in the Seya Gard district of central Parwan province, an official said on Thursday.
Two suspects riding the vehicle were arrested in connection with the explosives weighing approximately 2.5 tonnes, the governor’s spokeswoman told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Roshna Khalid claimed the detainees wanted to reach their target somewhere in northern Afghanistan.
National Directorate of Security (NDS) officials foiled the terrorist bid by apprehending the bomb-rigged van at 10am in the Joy Dokhtar area of Seya Gard district.
The gubernatorial spokeswoman believed the explosives were meant at making suicide vests and improvised explosives devices (IEDs), the Taliban’s weapon of choice.
The arrested individuals hailed from Waghis and Sorkhi areas, she added.
