FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): A heroin factory has been destroyed in a joint operation by Afghan and foreign forces and two women have died in a roadside bombing in western Farah province, officials said Wednesday.
Maj. Noorul Haq Khaliqi, spokesman for the 207th Zafar Military Corps, told Pajhwok Afghan News the heroin laboratory was destroyed in a joint air attack in the Takht area of Bakwa district on Tuesday night.
A number of people running the factory were also killed in the raid, he said, giving an exact figure.
Few days back, 200 Italian and American forces were stationed in Farah. The airstrike was the first attack of the newly deployed foreign forces.
Separately, Khaliqi said two women travelling in a Corolla car lost their lives in a roadside bombing in the Kanask area of Bala Baluk district late on Tuesday.
Amrullah, a resident of the area, confirmed the deaths and said one of the victims was the mother of a police officer, who had been killed in a similar bombing in Shakh Bala area some days ago.
