KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): One attacker was killed and two others were able to flee after a botched attack on the military airport in southeastern Khost province on Saturday.
Fazl Khuda, 203rd Thunder Military Corps spokesman in the southeastern region, told Pajhwok Afghan News three armed men attempted to storm the military airport, but one of them was killed by Afghan forces and the two others fled.
Provincial police chief Brig. Gen. Faizullah Ghairat confirmed one attacker had been killed and two others fled.
But he said only a pistol was discovered from the dead assailant. Investigations into the incident are underway, he added.
The military airport serves as a base for the special forces. No group has so far commented on the incident.
