KABUL): Pajhwok Afghan News, the country’s leading independent news wire and photograph service, celebrated its seventh anniversary in Kabul on Monday.
On the occasion, work on a new building for the media outlet was also launched in the Rahman Mina neighbourhood. A media plaza will be constructed next to Pajhwok’s office.
Maidan Wardak Governor Mohammad Haleem Fidayee, the Kabul police crime branch chief, Malalai Magazine founder Jamila Mujahid, journalists and writers attended the event.
At a simple but impressive ceremony marking the anniversary, Pajhwok Director Danish Karokhel spoke about the organisation’s news coverage priorities and achievements during the past year.
“Working in a difficult environment in the right direction,” he said.
With more than 100 workers in Kabul and Afghanistan‘s 34 provinces, Pajhwok has a rich photo archive, he said, adding a video section was recently launched to meet subscribers’ demand and upgrade the overall service quality.
