TIRINKOT (Pajhwok): The Public Health Department of central Uruzgan province says as many as 60 health centres are functioning in rented houses in the province due to shortage of own buildings.
Deputy Public Health Director Mullah Fatihullah Khan told Pajhwok Afghan News due to the lack of government buildings, private houses have been rented for health centers in the provincial capital and all districts.
He said: “Our 60 clinics are still operating in rented houses where necessary services could not be provided. Whenever we ask any aid agency to assist us in construction of buildings, water supply networks and other necessary facilities for these centres, they do not pay attention.”
He added buildings had been constructed for 17 health centres in the province since the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) takeover.
As many as 116 health centres have been functioning in the province.
