MAHMOOD RAQI (PAN): A young girl was killed and her six family members were wounded when a rocket hit their house in central Kapisa province on Sunday, an official said.
The incident happened in Ghazikhel area of Tagab district during a clash between Taliban soldiers in the afternoon, district police chief, Col. Gul Padshah Bakhtyar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said it was not immediately known that who fired the rocket, but an investigation had been launched.
“When I came to my house, I found my 12-year-old daughter was killed and my wife, two sons, another daughter and two nephews were wounded,” Maroof, 45, a resident of Ghazikhel area, said.
NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) confirmed the civilian casualties, but provided no details. The alliance also said that an investigation was underway in this regard.
Three weeks back, six civilians, two international soldiers and eight Taliban fighters were killed and two ordinary people were wounded in the crossfire between insurgents and foreign soldiers in Alasai district of the province.
In northern Jawzjan, unidentified gunmen killed an education official in Khumaab district late Saturday night, police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Aziz Ghairat, said.
An investigation had been launched into the killing of Pir Nazar, the education department head, who was killed on his way home in Qurnas village, he said.
