PUL-I-KHUMRI (PAN): An unknown gunman shot dead an intelligence officer in northwestern Baghlan province on Friday, an official said.
The Talaw Barfak district deputy intelligence chief, Col. Mohammad Shakir, was walking in the district bazaar when an unknown man opened fire at him in the afternoon, the district chief, Syed Mohammad Sadat, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The attacker was able to flee, but police had launched a search operation to arrest him, Sadat said.
Shopkeeper Fazl Ahmad said the gunman fired at Shakir from a narrow alley. The man fired four shots and then fled, he said.
No one has so far claimed responsibility for the murder.
