ZARANJ (Pajhwok): Thirty one people have been detained on different charges and five tonnes of low quality food items and expired medicine set alight in northwestern Nimroz province, an official said on Monday.
Anti- crimes director Maulvi Ataullah Mustafa told Pajhwok Afghan News security forces have arrested 31 people in connection with robbery, fight, moral corruption, and copper smuggling.
He said dossiers of the arrested individuals have been submitted to the provincial courts.
On the other hand, Public Health Director Mullah Abdul Rahman Abdullah said five tonnes of low quality and expired food items and medicine had been collected by the provincial health commission in the past six months.
These food items and medicine were burned in the presence of relevant department’s delegation in coordination with PHD today.
According to the director, thee food items included biscuits, different drinks, macaroni, tomato paste, various canned goods and others. The medicines included painkillers, tonic syrups and some low quality and expired items.
Mustafa asked traders to avoid importing low-quality goods and medicines.
