KANDAHAR CITY (PAN): Two armed men on motorcycle gunned down a civilian in the southern province of Kandahar, officials and witnesses said on Tuesday.
The incident took place on Monday morning when two motorcyclists shot dead a civilian named Mohammad Husain in the 16th police district of Kandahar City, witness Noor Mohammad told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Police have launched an investigation to arrest the attackers, said the provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Abdul Razaq.
A Taliban spokesman, Qari Yousuf Ahmadi, said they killed Husain because he was a teacher in a police training centre and also worked for the National Solidarity Programme (NSP), a government initiative that implements development projects in the provinces.
