AIBAK (PAN) have been inaugurated in the northern province of Samangan, an official said on Saturday.
The provincial head of Mercy Corps, tasked with implementing the projects, told Pajhwok Afghan News that thousands of families in 30 villages in and around Aibak City will benefit from the projects, that would cost 29 million Afs. The official, Mohammad Younus Aftab, said that these projects have already created work opportunities for 1,100 people over the past 50 days.
The project included building 10 water embankments, cleaning up of nine existing canals, reconstructing the recreational park, building a road, aqueduct, and water resevoirs, also, conducting a tailoring course for women and setting-up a small cooking pot factory, he said.
“Last year, 80 houses were damaged due to floods in our area, but with the water embankments now, we feel safe”, sixty one year old, Abdul Jalil, a resident of Guzar Khwaja Mohammad Wali, said.
The idea behind the projects, proposed by the people of Aibak city, was to address their concerns and provide them with adequate work opportunities, head of commerce department, Mohammad Farid Khodajo, said.
