Over 30 dead in Logar hospital car bombing

PUL-I-ALAM (PAN): More than 30 people have been killed, and dozens more injured, in a suicide attack targeting a hospital in central Logar province, officials said on Saturday.

The attack occurred around 11:20 am when a car loaded with explosives was driven into the Azrah district’s central hospital, Abdul Wali, the provincial council chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News. The assailant’s identity remains unknown.

Those killed and wounded were hospital employees, guards, and patients, he said.

Din Mohammad Darwesh, the governor’s spokesman, estimated that 45 people had been either killed or injured in the blast. 

The hospital and a neighboring building housing a rural development department were completely destroyed in the blast. Darwesh said police were investigating.
