JALALABAD (PAN): Two rival tribes who had a dispute over a piece of land in eastern Nangarhar province have agreed not to create problems for students and teachers in the area.
The two tribes, Sepai and Alisherkhel, have been fighting each other for the past few months over claims to a desert spreading from Achin district to Spin Ghar district.
The dispute has led to some bloody clashes between the two sides, causing the closure of area schools.
Education Department spokesman Mohammad Asif Shinwari told Pajhwok Afghan News that a 30-member delegation comprising religious scholars and tribal elders had talked with the two sides.
The two sides have agreed not to attack schools in their respective areas, he said. The rival tribes will not recruit students to fight, he added.
