KHOST CITY (PAN facilities.
One of the prisoners claimed on Wednesday having asked the authorities concerned time and again to resolve their problems, including an unhygienic environment, but no remedial measures have been taken so far.
Saeedullah told Pajhwok Afghan News that about 269 inmates were currently being held at the detention facility, which had a clinic but no medicine, doctors or equipment.
Another inmate, Noorullah, said they were given unhygienic water. He added they used the water for washing clothes and bathing, because it was not fit for drinking.
Col. Amir Sardar, in charge of the prison, acknowledged the problems, saying there was no proper system of drinking water and electricity. He added a delegation had been formed to investigate the matter.
Justice Department head, Qanun Gul, said they had submitted a report to the Ministry of Justice about the problems facing the inmates, but no action had been taken as yet.
