GARDEZ (PAN stadium, having the capacity of accommodating 1,500 spectators, has finished in Gardez city, the capital of southeastern Paktia province, officials said on Saturday.

Costing $700,000 (33,124,000 afghanis), the project took one year to complete, provincial Olympic committee head, Mohammad Amin Alamyar, told Pajhwok Afghan News. He said the stadium has facilities for players of various games.

Meanwhile, the foundation stone of a building for a vocational school was laid in the Tiri Bagh area of Gardez city.

The ceremony was attended by Governor Juma Khan Hamdard and deputy education minister, Asif Nang.

Funded by the Counternarcotics Ministry, the school building was estimated to cost $ 1.2 million, Hamdard said.

Nang said students would learn different professional skills at the school.

The building would have 30 rooms with water and power facilities, Education Director Mihrab-ud-Din Shafaq said.
