KABUL National Olympic Committee on Tuesday announced holding the summer games in Kabul to encourage athletes, an official said on Tuesday.
Afghan and foreign athletes would be invited to the Kabul Olympics, the committee head, Mohammad Zahir Aghbar, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
The event is being organised with the cooperation of Afghan traders, foreign sports institutions, security organs and the Kabul Municipality.
Aghbar said Afghan pugilist Hamid Rahimi, who recently clinched the World Boxing Union (WBU) Championship title in Germany, planned to compete with an American rival in Kabul
“We are preparing for the boxing contest. The American pugilist is expected to arrive in Kabul soon,” Aghbar concluded.
