Over 35,000 students to find way to universities

KABUL on Monday announced more than 35,000 of the total 145,000 candidates, appearing an entrance test, would be granted admissions to universities this year.

More than 7,000 students from the capital and provinces on Monday sat the final phase of an entry test in Kabul. Deputy higher education minister, Mohammad Osman Baburi, said 160,000 students had been registered for this year’s entry test.

More than 35,000 aspirants would be enrolled to universities and another 55,000 to colleges, he said. Last year, about 120,000 students had appeared in the test. Of them, 70,000 were admitted to higher education institutes and colleges.

Baburi said although proper measures had been taken for the entry test, the officials concerned would be punished if cheating or fraud was reported.

“It’s my second time to sit the test in the hope to find my way to the literature faculty,” said Mohammad Yasir, a graduate from the Qazi Aminullah High School in Mazar-i-Sharif. He expressed satisfaction with the exams, saying the questions were easy.
