KABUL): Afghan foreign minister Zalmay Rasul is scheduled to visit Qatar, where he is expected to hold high level bilateral talks with Qatari leaders, an official said on Saturday.
But, neither the exact dates of his official trip nor the actual agenda of the proposed visit was so far revealed.
However, Janan Musazai, foreign ministry spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that talks would not touch on the proposed Taliban political office in Qatar.
Last January Taliban leaders agreed to open a political office in a neutral state, in Doha, aimed at initiating future dialogues with international community.
Afghan and the United States officials were supportive of the proposed Taliban liaison office in Qatar.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Hassan Haqyar, a political analyst, believes Rasul is likely to discuss about Taliban’s office with Qatari officials and his visit is crucial for future peace talks.
