KABUL National Front (ANF) and a group of visiting US Congressmen stressed that the parliamentary system was a good alternative to resolve the ongoing political crises.

In a joint statement, issued by the national front and the US congressmen in Kabul, they said parliamentary system could be a good alternative to exit from the current crises, where the power would be distributed by the executive level in the provinces.

The ANF leaders and the US Congressmen stressed on bringing deep reforms in the current government system, ahead of the withdrawal of foreign troops, highlighting corruption and lack of transparency were major concerns in the current system.

The statement was read out at a joint press conference by the ANF’s head, Ahmad Zeya Masood, along with a visiting member from the US.

“The national front of Afghanistan and the body welcome peace process in the country, but it should not be achieved on the expense of justice and any unconstitutional decision must be rejected,” added the statement.

Speaking on behalf of the visiting body, Louie Gomert, said: “We and the national front support the peace efforts but all political parties must be part of the peace process.”

He said the front and Afghanistan people were concerned over the destruction of democracy and the return of Taliban, once foreign troops withdraw and people could not tolerate return of Taliban.

On the prevention of one of the visiting body’s member in Dubai, from entering Afghanistan, Gomert said the member was asked to stay in Dubai airport but did not give further details.

Zeya Masood also condemned the prevention of the head of the visiting delegation to Afghanistan.
