GHAZNI CITY (PAN): The foundation stones for two buildings faculties at the Ghazni University were laid on Tuesday in the southern province of Ghazni, officials said.
The four-story buildings for economics and Sharia faculties would be constructed at a total cost of nearly 51 million afghanis, funded from the ministry’s development budget, Minister of Higher Education Obaidullah Obaid said at the ceremony in Ghazni.
Obaid also approved id=”mce_marker” million for the construction of two administrative buildings and a hostel in the university next year. The construction of playground, mosque, road, electricity supply and water pipelines to the university would be begin soon, he added.
He also said about 55 students, of whom 30 percent females, would be sent to foreign counties to pursue their higher education, he added.
Governor Musa Khan Akbarzada asked the minister to approve the construction of more buildings for other faculties because there was only one building without retaining wall.
About 200 students would be enrolled in the two new faculties from next year, said chancellor of the university Qadir Khamosh.
“Our students have no transportation facility, road is unpaved, the university has no surrounding wall, no electric power or clean drinking water,” he added.
