KABUL): Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Zalmai Rassoul met visiting Australian Defence Minister Stephen Smith at his office in Kabul on Monday.
A statement from the foreign ministry said the officials held discussed a wide range of issues and agreed on greater relations between their countries.
Rassoul said: “Australia is one of Afghanistan’s close friends and we thanks Canberra for extending assistance to Afghanistan, especially Uruzgan province, over the past decade.”
For his port, Smith renewed Australia’s long-term cooperation with Afghanistan during the transition process, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2014, and beyond.
